Temple of Hera (Heraion)
This has been the site of many temples worshiping Hera, the last being built under the order of Polycrates in 525 BC, the largest temple in Greece. Despite the diligence of the 20th Century German excavations much of the sanctuary is confusing, since during the Byzantine and medieval period masons used the ready cut marble of the temple to use in their new buildings leaving only one column that stands to this day. Early in the 5th century, Christian masons built a basilica dedicated to a new mother figure; the virgin Mary. The foundations of the basilica lie east of the Great temple of Hera.

Pythagoras Statue (Pythagorion)
A must see while you are on the Island, the bronze stature is located on the East side of the harbor.
